How Tennessee's law changed
Tennessee first restricted kratom in 2013. In 2018, the state distinguished ordinary natural-leaf kratom from synthetic or isolated alkaloid products and permitted regulated natural-leaf sales to adults. That framework remained in effect through June 30, 2026.
The 2026 law reversed that policy. As of July 1, natural leaf, extracts, and concentrated 7-OH products are all within Tennessee's prohibition. Older pages that say natural-leaf kratom is legal for adults in Tennessee are now out of date.
